Well, red soles don't necessarily mean they are a Christian Louboutin original. If Christian had it his way, they would be. He has recently had civil cases with Zara and YSL about his "trademark" red sole. He said they have been his trademark for the past 20 years, but French courts don't seem to agree. They gave Zara the right to use the red sole. Apparently, you cannot trademark a color. But Gucci has the red and green, Louis Vuitton has the brown canvas, and Tiffany's has the blue box. At what point, are you trademarking a color, and not a design?
